Arnt Schellekens

Dr. Arnt Schellekens is a clinical psychiatrist and professor in psychiatry and addiction at Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen The Netherlands, where he directs the impulse regulation care program. He is scientific director of the Nijmegen Institute for Scientist Practitioners in Addiction (NISPA), aiming to bridge the gap between (basic) science and clinical practice and the national policy advisor for the Dutch Government.
Dr. Schellekens’ work aims to improve treatment outcome in addictive disorders by translating mechanistic insights into personalized treatment approaches and the development of new treatment strategies for addictive disorders. Interdisciplinary collaboration is key to reach these aims, with close collaborations with preclinical researchers, neuroscientists, geneticists, epidemiologists, social scientists, clinicians and client organizations.
